Job summary

BMC Berkeley Medical Center is looking for a dedicated Security Officer II to uphold safety and security across hospital facilities. You will maintain visibility, assist patients and staff, and coordinate with security operations to prevent incidents.

The role requires strong communication, training in defensive tactics, and timely incident reporting. As part of WVU Medicine security, you will perform rounds, handle access control, and respond to emergencies with professionalism.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and 1 year security experience or an Associate’s degree in criminal justice.
• Valid Driver’s License and background checks.
• Defensive Tactics Certification within 60 days of hire; OC Spray, Baton, Taser training, Handcuffing.

Responsibilities

• Maintain visibility at assigned locations to provide information and directions for patients, visitors and staff.
• Respond to information/assistance requests in a courteous manner.
• Provide wheelchair assistance, transport, escorts, and room access as needed.
• Monitor traffic flow and issue parking permits; enforce safety and security rules.
• Prevent accidents, theft and vandalism in accordance with policies.
• Perform routine building rounds, door unlocks, and exterior patrols.
• Document activities and incidents clearly for supervision.
• Respond to emergencies such as fires, threats, and disasters in line with procedures.
