Job description

Summary

Provides direction and support for security officers to ensure all duties are performed according to established policies and procedures of the facility. Assists the leadership team by responding to all security incidents/emergencies during the assigned shift. Performs all duties of a Security Officer.

Education

Associates degree in Law Enforcement or equivalent experience preferred. Must be at least 18 years old.

Licensure

Must have a valid Rhode Island license to operate a motor vehicle.

Experience

One year of experience in security/police force or two years of military experience preferred.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • Must possess sound dexterity and visual acuity.
  • Requires mental alertness and stamina to work in a fast-paced environment and during emergencies.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, and reach without restrictions.
  • Ability to lift between 25 and 50 pounds using proper body mechanics.
  • Must be able to push heavy equipment, gurneys, and wheelchairs.
  • May be exposed to patient care elements, risks of needle punctures, electrical, mechanical, and chemical hazards, and ionizing radiation (strictly monitored).
  • Regularly required to work scheduled hours, including weekends and holidays if part of departmental operations. Per diem staff must work at least 4 shifts per month as needed.
  • Must be able to sit, walk, run, stand, and be on feet for long periods.
  • May have physical contact with patients and may need to hold patients during interventions or apply restraints.
  • May be assigned to automobile duty and be exposed to all hospital/nursing home areas.

All safety training requirements must be met per hospital policy.
