Work Schedule
Evening weekend shifts (4pm-12am at both Midlothian and Chester campuses) and midnights shifts (12am-8am primarily at the Chester campus). Midnight shifts are eligible for shift differential of $1.50 / hr. Incumbents must have flexibility to fill in on all shifts at both locations.

The college is located within the Greater Richmond metropolitan area. It serves students and the community at its two campuses, in Chester and Midlothian; online; and in locations throughout its service area. Brightpoint Community College seeks to hire multiple wage security officers for assignments covering primarily dayshift (8 am to 4 pm) at the Midlothian campus. Incumbents must have flexibility to fill in on all shifts at both locations. Responsibilities include enforcing college, local and state rules and regulations; inspecting assigned areas; recording incidents; securing buildings; monitoring visitor access. Specific duties include; reporting discrepancies and hazardous conditions; conducting both foot and vehicular patrols; monitor surveillance cameras, and respond to emergencies. Provide security at special events such as convocations, registration, and other college functions.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's / Required Qualifications
Considerable experience in a security or law enforcement environment required. Campus Security Officer Certification or ability to obtain within 180 days. Must have a valid Virginia driver's license and satisfactory driving record. Moderate lifting and extensive walking required. Ability to maintain a positive, productive, cooperative attitude and serve as a team player. Experience providing excellent customer service required. This position requires working flexible schedules that includes weekends, day, evening and night shifts. Successful completion and passing of a criminal background check is required.
Additional Considerations
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
