Job description

Job Summary

Under general supervision, the Security Officer is responsible for assisting in the protection, safeguarding, and security of assets, personnel, and visitors of the Tribe.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Perform security patrols of buildings, vehicles, and at Tribal events.
  • Protect property from theft and vandalism.
  • Investigate and report on accidents, incidents, suspicious activities, and other security-related situations.
  • Assist Tribal members, employees, and visitors during gatherings and funerals.
  • Contact law enforcement regarding unauthorized, trespassing, hostile, or loitering individuals at Tribal facilities and community events.
Education, Experience, and Training

High school diploma or equivalent required, along with six months of security-related experience. Must possess a valid Washington State driver's license, Flagger card, and First Aid/CPR certification at the time of appointment or as specified by the Tribe.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of defensive tactics, use of force, and legal protections for persons and property.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions, write reports, work independently, and operate necessary equipment.
  • Familiarity with administrative duties, confidentiality, and emergency preparedness.
Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, handle objects, reach, sit, talk, hear, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift up to 25 pounds. Must work in various weather conditions and be able to see clearly in various visual capacities.

Licenses and Certifications

Valid Washington State driver's license, Flagger card, and First Aid/CPR certification required at appointment.
