Overview

The Durst Organization is seeking a Security Officer II to work the following shift:

Monday - Friday from 11:00 pm - 7:00 am

This position is a Local 32BJ union role and will be based at the Midtown Security Command Center.

The pay rate for this position is $23.53 per hour.

Responsibilities

The Security Officer II – Command Center provides technical support, disseminates information, and operates camera systems within the Command Center.

  • Acknowledge and respond to alarms; communicate with managers or security officers during emergencies; contact emergency services regarding onsite incidents.
  • Monitor surveillance systems for operational readiness; troubleshoot video feeds; download videos for archiving; coordinate with vendors for system maintenance.
  • Maintain constant visual surveillance of tenants, guests, and security personnel.
  • Provide technical information and reports on activities impacting the building and surrounding area.
  • Relate information to the Property Management Office, Engineering Department, and cleaning services; dispatch personnel to resolve issues.
  • Handle work tickets for AWARE or other systems; manage contractor access to tenant spaces.
  • Conduct radio checks and transmissions.
  • Assist with tenant, contractor, and employee badge management, including access levels and deactivation.
  • Coordinate drills with Fire Safety Directors.
  • Assist in basic investigations as requested by tenants or management.
  • Provide professional and courteous customer service to tenants and guests.
Qualifications
  • Must meet applicable state, county, and municipal licensing requirements, including:
    • Current New York State Security Guard License
    • Current AED/CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Knowledge of camera surveillance, access control, and building systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow security protocols.
  • Technical aptitude and willingness to learn security screening procedures and equipment.
  • Ability to read, understand, and comply with regulations and reports.
  • Willingness to learn security-related software applications.
  • Understanding of security operations.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Effective interaction across diverse social and cultural levels.
  • Initiative-taking and result-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt to organizational changes.
