Position Details

Job Title: Security Officer I

Entity: LGH

Location: Lancaster General Hospital - 555 N Duke St, Lancaster, PA 17602

Hours: 1.0 FTE (40 Hours per week), Night Shift

Responsibilities

• Provide security for patients, employees, and visitors; initiate investigations and follow up as needed.
• Patrol assigned areas to ensure safety and security.
• Participate in pre-shift and post-shift briefings to stay updated on recent security events.
• Document daily activities and security responses accurately.
• Respond to emergency requests, investigate suspicious activity, and de-escalate volatile situations.
• Investigate, document, and resolve security incidents; report abuses or damages.
• Respond to alarms and Condition Codes as required.
• Conduct security checks of LGH properties during non-business hours.
• Monitor premises, grounds, and parking facilities for security concerns and hazards.
• Monitor parking areas and traffic flow.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform duties listed.
• Valid State driver’s license.
• Complete required training within specified timeframes (e.g., Basic Certification, Crisis Prevention, Defensive Tactics, CPR AED).
• Ability to interact effectively with diverse populations.
• Effective communication skills, including reading, writing, and speaking clearly.
