Overview

The Security Officer provides security to the facility, employees, equipment, supplies, and medications. Controls visitor traffic, ensuring the safety and welfare of patients, visitors, and staff.

Responsibilities
  1. Promotes safe practices and reports any conditions affecting health and safety.
  2. Conducts regular patrols of the facility and parking lots to detect hazards and suspicious activity.
  3. Locks and unlocks doors as needed.
  4. Assists in fire drills and responds to emergencies.
  5. Escorts off-shift employees to their vehicles.
  6. Maintains safety logs.
Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of assigned education by Crisis Prevention Institute required.

Work Experience: Customer service and de-escalation skills required. Experience with mental health and memory disorders preferred. Prior security experience a plus.

Licenses and Certifications: Valid NJ driver’s license required. Non-violent Crisis Intervention certification required within 3 months of hire, with renewal every 2 years. Must complete education provided by Crisis Prevention Institute.

Knowledge and Skills: Strong organizational, interpersonal, and professional skills. For visitor control, basic computer skills, awareness of surroundings, and ability to handle reluctant visitors/contractors are necessary.
