Job summary

St. Jude Children\'s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN seeks a security officer responsible for safety of premises, employees, and visitors. You will monitor security systems, conduct patrols, respond to incidents, and enforce policies with a visible presence. Schedule: 2:00 p.m.

to 10:30 p.m. with rotating days off. The role requires high school diploma, 6 months security experience, background checks, and Tennessee security officer licensing within 60 days.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least 6 months of security-related experience required.
  • Must pass background checks and drug screening.
  • Must attain Tennessee security officer license within 60 days.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in responding to inquiries and resolving issues or complaints (e.g., issuance of personnel badges and hangtags).
  • Support the team in providing excellent customer service; May provide patrol duties, as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining daily reports with relevant information (e.g., observations, surveillance, signatures).
  • Issue all personnel badges and parking hangtags for all hospital employees and guests using the security Access Control System. Assist employees with creating or resetting ID Badge Personal PIN, Fingerprinting for Biometric Enrollment, and adding Biometric Access to an employee's profile within the Access Control System.
  • Assist with termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet goals and objectives of the department and institution.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Job description

Responsible for ensuring the safety and security of an organization's premises, employees, and visitors. This role involves monitoring security systems, conducting regular patrols, responding to incidents, and enforcing security policies and procedures. Will be the first line of defense against unauthorized access, theft, and other security threats, maintaining a visible presence to deter potential risks. This position requires strong observational skills, quick decision-making abilities, and the ability to respond effectively to emergencies and security breaches.

Schedule: 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. with rotating days off

Job Responsibilities:

Minimum Education and/or Training:
  • High school diploma/GED required
Minimum Experience:
  • 6 months of security-related experience (e.g., security program, police organization, military branch, conflict counseling) required.
  • Some experience in data entry and working in emergency situations and a fast-paced, stressful environment, standing for long hours and lifting weights, preferred.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems, including Microsoft Office (Word/ Excel, etc.), preferred.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification Required by SJCRH Only:
  • Must attain Licensed Security Guard/Officer certification for the State of Tennessee within 60 days of employment.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Successfully complete a physical/health screening examination by Occupational Health, which includes a drug screening; successfully meet and maintain Campus Safety and Security physical requirements.

Physical demands are in excess of those for sedentary work, and officers must be able to remain on feet for extended periods of time, as well as stoop, kneel, crouch, lift, carry, push, pull, climb, balance, walk, and run.

Run moderate distances and/or go up and/or down flights of steps; read, interpret, and understand St. Jude Children's policies and procedures.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Must maintain the ability to move about the workspace to access work surface and shelves, cabinets, drawers, and equipment that are at, below, or above the work surface.
