A leading university and hospital in New Jersey is seeking a Security Officer to ensure the safety of personnel and visitors. The role involves patrolling, responding to emergencies, and assisting with campus security. Candidates should have a high school diploma and prior security experience is preferred. This position requires excellent communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft applications. Night shift availability is essential.
Job Details
Provides maximum protection for the safety and security of university and hospital personnel, patients, students, visitors, and Jefferson assets. Performs security duties either at a fixed post, on patrol, or while making rounds of buildings and grounds. Responds to calls for service, checks for unauthorized persons, general security violations, and fire or safety hazards. Capable of being assigned to any fixed post or patrol duties in any environment, and on any shift. Assists patients, visitors, and students by giving directions or information when requested.
* Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
* Performs security patrols at fixed posts or on patrol, including checking for security violations and fire or safety hazards. Verifies the appropriateness of persons on property by checking identification badges and escorts unauthorized persons from campus as necessary.
* Responds promptly to calls for service, including emergencies, and notifies supervisors of conditions. May be required to diffuse emergency situations with conflict resolution skills.
* Investigates and documents reports on accidents, incidents, or suspicious activities. Maintains daily patrol logs and submits them to supervisors. Provides follow-up information as directed.
* Provides assistance to employees, students, patients, and visitors during incidents, including security escorts upon request.
* Assists with campus parking issues by patrolling parking lots and equipment.
* Supports safety teams, including assisting the Trauma Team with helicopter landings and fire emergencies. Enforces all No Smoking policies on campus.
* Performs other related duties such as inspecting deliveries, assisting with training, and supporting loss prevention efforts.
