Position Summary

(General statement reflecting the overall purpose of the position.) Security Officer 1 (Unarmed Security) are instrumental in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our employees, patients, physicians, students, vendors and visitors by monitoring and patrolling our facilities. Officers demonstrate exceptional customer service while providing assistance with disruptive incidents, emergency services, personal protection and traffic/parking control. Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience

• MINIMUM EDUCATION: High school graduate or GED required or equivalent combination of education and experience
• MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: None

Preferred Experience and Certifications

• Two to three years in a security role, law enforcement or military background (preferred)
• Requires the ability to obtain and maintain appropriate state license/certifications
• Level II Noncommissioned Security Officer with the Texas Commission on Private Security within 60 days of hire
• Must maintain a valid state driver’s license
• Active healthcare provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification on hire; AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) within 60 days of employment
• Preferred: Texas Security Officer Commission Level III

• Ability to perform continuous physical exertion activities, including standing, walking, climbing stairs, and emergency rescue
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required
• Pass pre-employment and annual background checks
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Interpersonal skills to interact professionally with all levels of personnel and the public
• Ability to use initiative and independent judgment
• Ability to prepare reports and provide quality customer service
• Handle both routine and crisis situations calmly and efficiently
• Must wear issued Kevlar Vest under uniform shirt
