Job Details

Provides maximum protection for the safety and security of university and hospital personnel, patients, students, visitors, and Jefferson assets. Performs security duties either at a fixed post, on patrol, or while making rounds of buildings and grounds. Responds to calls for service. Checks for unauthorized persons, general security violations, and fire or safety hazards. Capable of being assigned to any fixed post or patrol duties in any environment and on any shift. Assists patients, visitors, and students by giving directions or information when requested.

Responsibilities include:

• Interacting with co-workers, visitors, and staff consistent with Jefferson's values.
• Performing security patrols, verifying the appropriateness of persons on property, and escorting unauthorized individuals off-campus as necessary.
• Responding promptly to calls for service, including emergencies, and notifying supervisors. Diffusing emergency situations with conflict resolution skills.
• Investigating and documenting accidents, incidents, or suspicious activities. Maintaining patrol logs and providing follow-up information as directed.
• Providing assistance to employees, students, patients, and visitors, including security escorts upon request.
• Assisting with campus parking issues and patrolling parking lots.
• Supporting safety teams, including assisting with helicopter landings and fire emergencies. Enforcing no-smoking policies on campus.
• Performing other security and safety duties, including inspecting deliveries and assisting with staff training.

Job Description

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Prior security, police, or military experience preferred. Experience in campus/hospital security or law enforcement strongly preferred.
• PA: Valid ACT 235 Certification within 90 days of hire.
• Valid driver's license required at certain locations.
• Understanding of responsibilities and technology of the 24-hour Security Response Center (SRC).
• Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Email).
• Ability to work and rotate shifts as needed.
• Must maintain a professional appearance and be equipped with required security instruments.
