Job summary

Allied Universal in West Columbia, SC is seeking a full-time Security Officer to protect client sites and maintain a visible security presence. You will conduct patrols, monitor access, respond to incidents, and coordinate with site leadership to uphold safety protocols.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of security experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and comfort using computers or tablets. Training is provided, and benefits include health insurance and retirement options.

What You’ll Do

• Provide customer service to employees, visitors, contractors, and delivery personnel at a technology and logistics location by carrying out security-related procedures, site‑specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of interior and exterior areas, including business spaces, parking areas, access points, and perimeter locations, to help deter unauthorized activity and identify unusual conditions.
• Monitor access to the location, verify credentials as directed by site procedures, and maintain accurate visitor, contractor, and incident documentation.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, access concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, escalating matters to appropriate site contacts and emergency responders when needed.
• Communicate professionally with site personnel and Allied Universal leadership regarding shift activities, policy concerns, and security‑related observations.

Minimum Requirements

• At least 2 years of security‑related experience is required.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Alarm panel experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
