Responsibilities
  • Protects, serves, and assists patients, staff, and guests.
  • Responds to emergency codes.
  • Uses communication skills to deescalate distressed individuals, including behavioral and psychiatric emergencies.
  • Subdues/restrains individuals when needed, operating tools such as restraints, sprays, shields, handcuffs.
  • Monitors individuals for unsafe actions, possessing acute hearing and vision for quick reactions.
  • Maintains a safe environment by monitoring buildings and grounds.
  • Handles dangerous ordinances when necessary.
  • May come into contact with blood, body fluids, and deceased persons using PPE.
  • Investigates incidents, accidents, or complaints.
  • Facilitates safe medical aircraft takeoff and landing.
Minimum Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED; military, law enforcement, or security experience preferred.
  • Certification in Healthcare Safety and Security or Ohio Peace Officers Training (with limitations).
  • BAT, CPR/AED/First Aid, and crisis intervention certifications or obtained within specified timeframes.
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license, insurable under Firelands, with ability to drive day/night.
  • Maintain certifications in handcuffing, defensive tactics, Turtle Shield, Reflex Protect.
  • Mobile phone required.
