Job summary

Lewis & Clark Behavioral Health Services (LCBHS) is seeking a Casual Security Officer to safeguard staff, clients, and facilities at The Core Center and Ebel Recovery Center in Yankton, SD. The role covers patrols, incident response, and escort duties, with a starting wage of $22.00 per hour and an overnight differential of $2.00 per hour.

Qualifications include 6 months to 1 year of related experience, a valid driver’s license, and strong communication and de-escalation abilities.

Qualifications

• Six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, other professional agencies, other employees, supervisors, and the public.
• Sensitivity to special needs of clients and ability to work with cultural and ethnic differences.
• Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
• Ability to plan and organize time effectively.
• Ability to safely operate passenger vans and non-passenger vehicles.
• Ability to follow directives of supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate workflow with other team members to ensure safety of agency personnel and persons served.
• Patrol agency buildings and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and intruders; report hazards or security violations; respond to emergency codes and security requests.
• Monitor conduct of visitors on agency premises; confront unauthorized persons for questioning as needed.
• Escort agency personnel and persons served to parking lots and buildings.
• Provide a welcoming environment for personnel and clients.
