Scheduling Expectations

• You will be trained at various posts and/or facilities based on operational need. While you may work at a specific post or location for several weeks due to need, this will not be a permanent assignment.
• Your schedule (shifts, days off, hours per week, etc.) will vary based on operational need.
• You will be assigned to, or offered the opportunity to accept, shifts as they become available due to staffing needs.
• Some of your shifts will be scheduled in advance and posted with the new week’s schedule. Sometimes you will be called with short notice to cover for someone unable to work their shift.
• You are expected to work any shift for which you are scheduled in advance within your availability. If you know you will be unavailable on an upcoming date or time, communicate this with your supervisor.

Position Details

The Flex Officer position is crucial for operational and financial success. Flex officers support by working shifts that become open due to illness, call-offs, weather, vacation, or other causes. This ensures continuous service and protects personnel health and work-life balance.

Scheduling Parameters

• You will be trained at various posts based on operational need, with no permanent assignment.
• Your schedule will vary based on operational needs.
• Shifts are assigned or offered as they become available.
• Some shifts are scheduled in advance; others require short-notice responses.
• Work at least 80% of called shifts; refusing more than 20% may impact employment.

Key Responsibilities

• Patrol premises to maintain order and security presence
• Monitor surveillance and alarm systems
• Control access to buildings and restricted areas
• Report suspicious activity or hazards
• Respond to alarms and emergencies
• Complete incident reports accurately and promptly
• Provide excellent customer service while enforcing rules

Requirements

• Valid NJ SORA security guard license
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional training a plus
• 1+ years security experience
• Strong observation and communication skills
• Ability to stay calm and make quick decisions
• Basic computer skills and report writing
• Background check and drug screening clearance
• Ability to stand or walk for extended periods, indoors/outdoors

Preferred Qualifications

• CPR/First Aid certification
• Experience with trucking/logistics security
• Military or law enforcement background

The Security Officer Flex performs duties as specified by Post Orders and SOPs, requiring quick, knowledgeable actions according to directives.
