As a Security Officer Enhanced Part Time Security Screener in Norfolk, VA, this role is designed to provide reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility for you to earn more by picking‑up additional shifts when it works for you.

Pay Rate: $20.00 / Hour

Job Schedule: Sat 08:00 AM - 04:00 PM; Sun 08:00 AM - 04:00 PM.

How This Role Works:

• Fixed-Shift Commitment ("Anchor Shifts"): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
• Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick‑up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part‑time hours this week and full‑time the next. It's all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part‑time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build‑up to a full‑time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to passengers, crew members, visitors, and/or vendors while carrying out site‑specific screening procedures and emergency response activities at a cruise terminal or vessel access point.
• Screen passengers, baggage, carry‑on items, and/or personal belongings in accordance with established screening procedures and access requirements.
• Verify identification, boarding credentials, visitor authorization, and/or restricted‑area access permissions; report discrepancies to appropriate personnel.
• Operate screening equipment and conduct secondary screening as assigned, following established protocols and escalating prohibited or suspicious items.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, and maintain accurate activity logs and incident documentation.

Minimum Requirements

• Possess at least 1 year of security‑related experience.
• Possess a TSA‑issued TWIC.
• Be comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• X‑ray screening experience is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
