Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Safety and Security Director, Supervisor, or Lead Officer, the incumbent shall ensure a safe and secure environment for hospital patients, visitors, and staff by enforcing security regulations, patrolling assigned areas, and reporting hazards or unusual activities. The role also involves providing protective services and supporting the daily operations of the department.

Essential Functions

• Patrols hospital premises, monitors alarms and surveillance systems.
• Provides escorts for staff, visitors, and patients as needed.
• Apprehends violators and responds to emergencies.
• Assists with patient restraints and investigates incidents.
• Maintains confidentiality and prepares reports.
• Supports hospital operations, including supporting tissue recovery and monitoring security systems.
• Participates in safety drills and supports workplace violence victims.
• Manages visitor entry and ensures proper visitation procedures.
• Performs other security-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Maryland State Police Security Guard Card preferred or must obtain.
• No experience required; 1-3 years preferred.
• Valid Maryland driver’s license.
• Criminal background check required.
• Training in de-escalation, IAHSS certification, and CPR within first 6 months.

Physical & Working Conditions

Light work involving lifting up to 20 pounds, standing/walking for extended periods, with exposure to bloodborne pathogens risk category B.
