Job summary

MultiCare Health System is seeking a Security Officer to safeguard hospital properties and facilities, ensuring the safety of patients, employees, and visitors. The role is part of the Security Services team and involves enforcing policies and responding to incidents across our off-campus emergency departments.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, valid Washington or Idaho license, IAHSS certification (or within 1 year), and BLS/First Aid within 30 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; preferred.
• Washington or Idaho driver’s license (driving not required for Navos Hospital).
• IAHSS basic certification or ability to obtain within one year of hire.
• Minimum six months experience in police, military, or security, preferably in health care.
• Safe driving record as per MultiCare standards.
• BLS certification or obtained within 30 days of hire.
• First Aid training within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Conduct general security to protect people and property and enforce applicable policies and regulations.
• Deter criminal activity and misconduct using tactical techniques.
• Utilize aggression management skills verbally and physically as required.
• Apply awareness, vigilance, avoidance, defense, and escape principles to protect facility campus.
• Utilize weapons detection devices to monitor patients/visitors and remove contraband.
• Apply techniques with assistive devices when engaging with combative individuals.
• Operate security equipment and tools.

Responsibilities

• Conduct general security in the protection of people and property and the enforcement of all applicable policies, rules, and regulations.

• Deter criminal activity and misconduct utilizing tactical techniques.

• Utilize Management of Aggressive Behavior skills both verbally and physically as required.

• Apply the concepts of Awareness, Vigilance, Avoidance, Defense, and Escape to effectively protect and serve facility campus.

• Utilize weapons detection devices to monitor patients/visitors and ensuring the removal of contraband from facility.

• Apply appropriate techniques with assistive devices when engaging with combative/aggressive individuals.

• Effectively operate/leverage required security equipment and tools.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

• Current Washington or Idaho state driver’s license (driving is not required for this position at Navos Hospital).

• IAHSS basic certification or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire date.

• Minimum six (6) months of experience in police, military, or security, preferable in a health care setting.

• Proof of a safe driving record (which meets established MultiCare Standards) obtained by a motor vehicle report from the appropriate state. (Not required at Navos Hospital)

• BLS certification or obtained within 30 days of hire.

• First Aid training within 30 days of hire.

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $24.83 - $35.71 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
