Security Officer/Driver - Full Time - Evening Shift (2:30 pm - 11:00 pm)

La Rabida Children’s Hospital is hiring a full-time, evening shift, Security Officer/Driver for the Telecommunications, Security, and Transportation department in Chicago, IL.

Job Summary:

The Security Officer/Driver patrols and maintains surveillance of the Hospital, both internally and externally, to ensure the physical safety of our employees and the patients we serve. The Security Officer/Driver additionally services patients, visitors, and staff through verbal interaction and vehicular transportation.

Essential Security Officer/Driver Functions:

  • Patrols internal and external building: hallways, secure and open doors, patrol parking areas
  • Operates shuttle service to and from the University of Chicago (Hourly shuttles between 7:30am - 5:30pm on weekdays, excluding holidays)
  • Provides special transportation services: patient transports to off-site healthcare facilities, donation pick-up, vehicle maintenance, and various trips as requested
  • Communication command station for Security and Transportation Drivers
  • Monitors life safety systems
  • Maintains presence as primary attendant console during lunch/breaks
  • Views the camera monitor and changes the tape

What we need from you:

  • Education: High School diploma/GED Required
  • Related Work Experience: Customer Service background; preferably at least two years of experience as a Security Officer in a healthcare environment
  • Licensure/Certification: 20-hour basic Security Training Program Certification (Certification waived for current/previous Security/Law Enforcement Officers); Valid State Driver's License with no major driving violations in the past year
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license while employed in this position
  • Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of basic security operations
  • CPR Preferred: Only certifications issued by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross will be accepted
