Serving at UCLA Health offers an opportunity to utilize your specialized skills to improve the lives of patients, their families, and UCLA Health team members. You will provide critical support that facilitates healing. We invite you to join us.


Your role involves protecting all assets, staff, patients, and visitors at the Center for Health Sciences. Security Officers conduct regular patrols, document activities and incidents, and may serve in a lead capacity. You will enforce policies and state laws, adhere to all guidelines including regulatory requirements, and ensure the building is secured after hours.



Salary range: $22.47 - $29.09 / Hourly


Qualifications

  • Possess and maintain current certification: Guard Card, D.O.J. Chemical Agent, CPR, driver’s license, and BLS Certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross).

  • Ability to clearly communicate ideas with appropriate vocabulary and spelling.

  • Willingness to complete required training classes; training provided.

  • Ability to establish cooperative relationships with employees, management, law enforcement, and the community.

  • Ability to independently resolve issues within policies and procedures.

  • Resourcefulness in problem-solving using available resources.

  • Proficiency in operating security and office equipment.

  • Diplomatic interaction with the public and maintaining a professional appearance.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Understanding of public relations and the impact of actions on the organization.

  • Ability to assess and respond to emergencies appropriately.

  • Knowledge of security policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.

  • Familiarity with geographic areas for effective call response and information sharing.

  • Knowledge of penal codes and radio communication language.

  • Physical capacity to handle interventions, including restraints and dealing with violent subjects.

  • Ability to perform sustained patrols, standing, lifting, and restraining as necessary.

  • Good visual and auditory perception for reporting incidents.

  • Knowledge of security practices, protocols, and techniques.


Must hold a valid driver’s license, have an appropriate driving record, and enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.


Note: Senate Bill 525, signed into law in October 2023, sets a new minimum wage of $23/hour for nonexempt healthcare workers, effective June 1, 2024, with salary thresholds for exempt employees also adjusted. Healthcare workers are defined as those involved in patient care-related services supporting healthcare delivery in UCLA Health facilities.
