The Security Officer/Dispatcher is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for students, employees, and visitors at a public two-year college. This position serves in both a dispatch and field security capacity, coordinating emergency and non-emergency responses, monitoring campus activity, and enforcing institutional safety and security policies. This position is designated as essential personnel. Employees in this role are required to report to work during emergencies, inclement weather events, and other campus closures unless specifically excused by supervisory authority.
Regular, predictable, reliable, and consistent attendance is an essential function of this position. The Security Officer/Dispatcher must consistently report to work as scheduled and be present and available for assigned shifts to ensure continuous coverage of campus security operations, emergency response capability, and public safety functions. Due to the essential nature of this position, reliable and consistent staffing is necessary to maintain appropriate security coverage and operational readiness. Unscheduled, frequent, or recurring absences may directly impact staffing levels, campus safety, emergency response, and the College’s ability to maintain continuous security operations.

This is a part-time position working weekends. Shifts assigned may vary to meet the needs of the college & campus and may include: Friday/Saturday 11:30 p.m.-8:00 a.m., Saturday/Sunday 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m., Saturday/Sunday 3:30 p.m.-12 midnight or other shifts.
