Description

The National WWII Museum is currently seeking a Security Officer for the daytime shift. Reporting to the Director of Security, but under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director of Security and his supervisors, the Security Officer provides physical security and safety within the museum’s properties in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Museum.

Requirements

Be responsible for and take appropriate action to ensure the safety & security of all guests, staff and Museum properties
Execute all duties in a manner that promotes good public relations for the Museum.
Ensure Museum policy and procedures are carried out in accordance with the Security Department’s Policy and Procedures Manual.
Conduct walking and stationary post security within the museum properties in accordance with Post Orders.
When posted, assume the duties of the Control Room Officer to include but not limited to CCTV monitoring, take appropriate action in the event of fire, security and access control alarms, maintaining the daily log, and all other duties designated to that post.
Direct groups and guest during their visit in accordance with procedures and the plan of the day.
Ensure access control throughout the museum per established procedures.
Be prepared to provide emergency assistance in the event of a medical, fire, or other emergency situation.
Provide parking lot security and enforcement of parking lot policy.
Report to the security supervisor all incidences of loss/stolen property, any disruption of good order, or real or perceived suspicious activity or situation.

Qualifications

Experience in law enforcement, security, or military services.
Ability to communicate effectively and to use communications equipment.
Able to deal effectively with the general public, maintaining appropriate personal appearance and courteous demeanor.
Able to learn and carry out the policies, procedures and practices required in the position.
Ability to walk up and down stairs, stand and maintain vigilance for extended periods, and lift and carry up to 35 pounds.
Be alcohol and drug dependent free, no criminal record, and in good physical and mental health.
Be available to work a flexible 40hour week that includes both weekdays, weekends, and holidays and overtime.
