Job description

The Security Officer Coordinator, located within Metro Water Services (MWS), is responsible for supervising, organizing, and participating in the security and maintenance of facility controls at MWS properties. The Security Officer Coordinator also coordinates contract security services assigned areas to protect employees, visitors, public property, buildings, and related facilities.

This position may require “on call” availability and off shift/after-hours site visits.


Employees at Metro Water Services (MWS) work around the clock to supply, treat, manage, and protect our water resources in a sustainable manner for the benefit of all who live, work, and play in our community. Our dedicated, diverse workforce provides high quality drinking water and the best in wastewater treatment, storm water management, and waste collection services for our customers in the Nashville-Davidson County area. We are looking for highly engaged individuals to join our team.

  • Coordinates and communicates with contract security services ensuring all designated areas have appropriate security officers.
  • Issues employee identification and access control badges.
  • Observes and oversees security video cameras.
  • Trains employees and contract security staff.
  • Maintains security and order at all MWS governed areas.
  • Prepares security reports and maintains all security related records and data.
  • Calls for police assistance as required.
  • Gives direction and provides information to employees and the public.
  • May supervise employees, including assigning duties, evaluating performance, providing coaching/counseling.
  • May monitor and operate various security devices/systems.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration or a related field from an accredited college or university, and three (3) years experience in the criminal justice system, security or related field experience.

OR

High School Diploma and five (5) years increasingly responsible experience with the criminal justice system, security or related field experience.



LICENSES REQUIRED:
Valid Driver License

Note: Handgun Permit and compliance with the conditions of the Metropolitan Government's policy 6.7-1 covering employees who carry firearms as a requirement of the job.

Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.


Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078, all employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
  • Knowledge and understanding of physical security practices and applications
  • Experience with National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS)
