Job summary

Los Angeles LGBT Center is seeking a dedicated Security Officer to safeguard our facilities in Los Angeles. This full-time role requires vigilance to protect staff, clients, volunteers, and assets across our campus and locations, with a focus on maintaining a safe, welcoming environment.

The Security Officer performs patrols, enforces campus policies, and coordinates with local authorities when needed. The schedule is 6am-2pm Thursday through Monday, with weekend shift differentials; on-site

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of work experience as a security guard.
• Ability to handle unruly individuals firmly and without antagonism.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts including weekends.
• State of California Guard card.
• Sensitivity to LGBT and homeless youth and adults’ needs.

Responsibilities

• Conduct hourly patrols across campus grounds and parking areas.
• Report suspicious activities and safety hazards to dispatch.
• Respond to alarms and disturbances promptly.
• Escort disruptive individuals off premises and coordinate with security.
• Prepare daily activity and incident reports.
• Assist local law enforcement and emergency services.
• Ensure buildings are secure after closing.
• Check doors, lighting, and alarm systems before leaving.
