Job summary

Allied Universal, North America’s leading security and facility services company, is hiring a Safety Officer Armed Field Patrol in Norfolk, VA. You will protect patients, visitors, and staff while patrolling hospital facilities and responding to incidents.

You’ll work a night schedule, delivering compassionate customer service, maintaining a visible presence, and documenting security activities through clear reports.

Qualifications

• Minimum 21 years old for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Background check required per laws (federal/state/local).
• Criminal history considered in line with applicable laws.
• Drug screen required where permitted by law.
• Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
• Licensing requirements may be required by state/local laws.
• Valid driver’s license required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to patients, visitors, staff, and vendors by carrying out security-related procedures and emergency responses within a healthcare setting.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations calmly and coordinate with hospital personnel and responders as needed.
• Conduct regular and random armed patrols of hospital buildings, parking areas, entrances, and perimeter locations to deter unauthorized activity.
• Monitor access points and support visitor, patient, and staff access procedures in line with site requirements.
• Prepare clear, accurate reports regarding incidents, observations, and security activities.

Position Type: Full Time

Pay Rate: $22.10 / Hour

Job Schedule:

• Mon: 11:00 PM - 07:00 AM
• Tue: 11:00 PM - 07:00 AM
• Wed: 11:00 PM - 07:00 AM
• Thur: 11:00 PM - 07:00 AM
• Sun: 11:00 PM - 07:00 AM

What You’ll Do:

• Provide customer service to patients, visitors, staff, and vendors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and emergency response activities within a healthcare setting.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, coordinating with appropriate hospital personnel and emergency responders as needed.
• Conduct regular and random armed patrols of hospital buildings, parking areas, entrances, and perimeter locations to help deter unauthorized activity and identify security-related concerns.
• Monitor access points and support visitor, patient, and staff access procedures in accordance with site-specific requirements.
• Prepare clear, accurate reports regarding incidents, observations, and security-related activities.

Minimum Requirements:

• Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
