Job summary

Galloway Ridge, an upscale continuing care retirement community in Pittsboro, NC, seeks a detail-oriented Security Officer to safeguard residents and property. You will patrol facilities, respond to emergencies, report incidents, and coordinate with authorities while supporting other departments as needed.

The role involves writing reports, managing after-hours tasks, and assisting with resident services and maintenance when required. The shift runs 11:00 pm to 7:00 am, with one weekend day.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Security patrol/officer experience preferred; on-the-job training provided.
• Able to read/write and use a computer, including Microsoft Office.
• Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration in a diverse team.
• Genuine interest in geriatric care and facility philosophy.

Responsibilities

• Patrol community premises to deter intrusion and secure doors, windows, equipment, and vehicles.
• Identify and report safety hazards; confront unauthorized persons and coordinate escorts if needed.
• Respond to fire alarms and assist the fire department as required.
• Notify police of suspicious activity and coordinate with authorities.
• Write daily activity and incident reports; initiate work orders and document issues.
• Send shift reports and answer calls, providing residents with information.
• Dispatch transportation as needed; assist with maintenance and grounds when necessary.
• Support other departments, especially after hours and on weekends.
• All other duties assigned to enhance resident experience.

Galloway Ridge is an upscale continuing care retirement community offering top-quality care in a warm, welcoming environment. We are looking for a detail-oriented and compassionate Security Officer to join our team. The Security Officer patrols community, responds to emergencies and notifies proper authorities, identifies safety hazards, and provides necessary reporting. Supports other departments as needed. This position is the front-line defense on any potential service failures and will be asked to perform specific functions related to other departments. This can include but is not limited to: resident services functions, parking, marketing tours, maintenance needs, administrative needs, resident deliveries, and healthcare support when it is warranted.

The hours for this role will be 11:00 pm - 7:00 am with working one day a weekend.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Security Responsibilities:

• Patrol community premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, equipment and vehicles.
• Correct or report safety hazards.
• Confront unauthorized persons to determine their purpose and/or ask them to leave.
• Contact the proper authorities to have them escorted from the property, if necessary.
• Respond to fire alarms by investigating locations and accompanying the fire department through the facility.
• Notify police in case of suspicious activity.

Administrative Responsibilities:

• Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons or unusual occurrences.
• Initiate work orders and/or document security issues.
• Send daily shift report to designated personnel.
• Answer phone calls, take messages, answer questions, and provide information to residents during business hours or when concierge is off-duty.
• Dispatch ambulance or non-emergency medical transportation as needed.
• Pick up and dispose of trash as needed.
• Assist with maintenance and grounds duties in the absence or shortage of staff.
• Support all other departments, especially after hours and on weekends.

All other duties assigned

include, but not limited to, enhancing the Resident Experience.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Valid Drivers License
• Security patrol/officer experience is preferred, some on-the-job training will be provided.
• Must be able to read, write and follow written and verbal instructions. Must be able to use a computer and be able to work in Microsoft Office.
• Must have effective written and verbal communication skills and be able to work collaboratively within a diverse work group.
• Must enjoy working with and cooperate with other employees and department directors.
• Must be willing and eager to provide assistance to the residents of the facility.
• Must have a genuine interest in geriatric care and believe in and uphold the facility’s philosophy.
• Must have the ability to stay alert throughout shift.
