Job summary

Sentry is seeking a Security Officer to safeguard associates, visitors and assets across multiple properties. The 2nd shift runs 2:30pm–10:30pm, Monday through Friday, with a rotating weekend 6:30pm–6:30am schedule.

You’ll monitor cameras, manage access control and respond to emergencies to keep teams safe. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, CPR/AED/First Aid certification, and a track record of reliability and confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required or equivalent work experience.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certification is required or must be obtained.
  • Observation and problem‑solving skills are essential for daily security tasks.
  • Strong communication and customer service abilities are needed.
  • Excellent organizational skills help manage access, logs and reports.
  • A clean driving record is important for property patrols and travel between sites.
  • Ability to react quickly and remain calm in sensitive situations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of security information and incidents.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays as part of shift rotation.
  • Membership in professional organizations (e.g., ASIS) is encouraged.

Responsibilities

  • Escalate risks based on severity and coordinate follow‑up with teammates and managers.
  • Administer access control for associates, contractors and visitors; issue and deactivate badges.
  • Complete incident reports for irregularities, damages, safety concerns and incidents.
  • Conduct regular inspections of safety equipment like extinguishers, AED, alarms, and lighting.

Job description

As a Security Officer, you'll monitor numerous properties to provide safety and security to Sentry associates, visitors, and assets.

At Sentry, security is one of our top priorities. To ensure our associates are safe and that our properties are secured, we are seeking a security-focused individual to join our Security team. In this key full‑time opportunity, you’ll grow your physical security experience in a dedicated and rewarding environment while knowing you’ve made an impact to keep our teams are safe.

We are currently looking for a Security Officer to assist our 2nd shift team from 2:30pm-10:30pm Monday through Friday. There is a rotating 3rd shift weekend from 6:30pm-6:30am. This role will require flexibility with the availability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and special events as required.

What You’ll Do

As a Security Officer, you will:

  • Patrol and monitor interior and exterior of numerous premises to prevent and detect any risks to Sentry associates and property. This includes but is not limited to monitoring cameras, security systems and numerous other devices, checking for tampering or damage to property and equipment, detecting health and safety issues, and the identification of unauthorized individuals.
  • Analyze and respond appropriately to emergency situations, taking command of the scene and providing any needed aide. This may include providing medical attention, deescalating a situation by using verbal and physical tactics, giving direction to those nearby, and escorting emergency personnel through the building.
  • Escalate risks appropriately based on the severity. Investigate identified risks or issues by reviewing security cameras and access control system to analyze the situation/incident, review with more experienced team members and/or managers to determine appropriate follow-up steps.
  • Administer the access control system for all associates, contractors, and visitors to maintain a safe and secure environment. This involves issuing temporary badges, activating and inactivating badges, and acknowledging and responding to alarms.
  • Complete incident reports on any irregularities, such as equipment and property damage, safety and health issues, theft, presence of unauthorized individuals, and any other unusual occurrences.
Additionally, You Will
  • Conduct regular inspections on fire extinguishers, fire valves, AED, door alarms, eyewash stations, lighting, audible alarms, etc. to ensure all equipment is properly functioning.
  • Collaborate with Travel department on pool car administration by signing out and collecting keys from authorized individuals.
  • Maintain lost & found, temporary keys, temporary & visitor access badges, parcel, overnight parking, and other logs.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned from time to time.
