Job summary

Nebraska Methodist Health System in Fremont is seeking a Security Officer to maintain a safe environment at Methodist Fremont Health. You will conduct foot and vehicle patrols, monitor access, and respond to emergencies while enforcing policies and protecting patients, staff, and visitors.

The role requires education in Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement, security experience, and certifications (TPR/NVCI) within the first year.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred; Associates or Bachelors in Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement preferred.
• TPR certification within 1st year of employment.
• NVCI certification within 1st year of employment.
• 2–3 years of security experience preferred.
• Valid and current driver’s license with limited moving violations in last 3 years.
• Knowledge of arrest, detention and search laws.
• Strong verbal and written communication, multi-tasking and de-escalation skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides security at Health System facilities by conducting foot and vehicular patrols to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Mentors employees by explaining policies and procedures and demonstrating equipment usage.
• Uses access programs to issue photo IDs, monitor doors/alarms, and generate reports.
• Coordinates with the House Supervisor or Administrative Coordinator during emergencies to follow disaster plans.
• Supports external agencies (fire, police, helicopter, contractors) per policies for successful outcomes.
• Provides security escort for deceased persons and valuables per policies and infection control guidelines.
• Conducts patient, visitor, employee, and monetary escorts as needed.
• Responds to hospital emergencies and completes tasks per policies to establish a safe environment.
• Controls combative or intoxicated individuals using presence, communication and defensive tactics as required.
• Assists with the Lost and Found program by properly receiving, tagging, and storing items.
• Maintains incident documentation using the Patient Safety Incident Reporting program for traceability.
• Adheres to PPE and infection control guidelines at all times.
• Participates in committees or ad hoc groups as directed by management.
• Demonstrates a professional, customer-centric demeanor in challenging situations.
• Performs additional security duties as required by department.

Provides security escort for deceased persons and valuables by following established departmental policies and proceduresand infection control guidelines and by completing proper documentation to ensure a safe and dignified transport/transferis conducted.7. Conducts patient, visitor, employee, and monetary escorts by following established departmental policies and procedures toensure safe delivery.8. Provides assistance to injured or ill patients, customers, and staff by following departmental policies and procedures toensure medical treatment is offered.9. Responds to all hospital emergencies and completes assigned tasks by following departmental policies and proceduresand/or administration directives to establish a safe and secure environment.10. Controls combative, unruly, or intoxicated persons on Health System properties by utilizing officer presence, verbalcommunication skills, and/or defensive tactics according to departmental policies and state/local laws to establish situationalcontrol.11. Assists with the Lost and Found program by properly receiving lost items, tagging, documenting, storing, and securing lostitems with the goal of returning the lost items to the rightful owners.12. Provides accurate and detailed documentation of all incidents by using the Patient Safety Incident Reporting program torecord information for future use.13. Adheres to safety and infection control guidelines by use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary accordingto Infection Control policies to ensure a safe environment.14.
