Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Security Officer patrols designated HonorHealth properties, screens visitors, and performs activities related to the safety and security of staff, patients, and visitors. Responsibilities include protecting property against theft, fire, vandalism, or other illegal activities, and ensuring safety protocols are followed to maintain a secure environment. Clear and accurate communication is essential, along with a keen awareness of safety measures.

Essential Functions
  • Ensure a safe hospital campus by patrolling areas, checking for hazards, and reporting issues. Escort individuals and property as needed, respond to alarms, and enforce organizational policies such as parking, smoking, and badge compliance.
  • Assist in emergency situations as a first responder, including disturbances, alarms, and mass casualty events. Activities may involve rapid movement, restraining individuals, and interacting with law enforcement. Maintain order and safety during emergencies.
  • Investigate and document incidents, maintain logs, and communicate findings appropriately.
  • Complete required training, participate in ongoing education, and obtain necessary certifications such as Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and Taser certification.
  • Represent HonorHealth positively, greet visitors and staff, provide directions, and collaborate with community partners.
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED - Required
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent - Preferred
Experience
  • 1 year in law enforcement or security in healthcare preferred but not required.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver License - Required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - Required within 2 months of hire
  • Taser certification - Required within 90 days of hire
  • Non Clinical/IAHSS Security Officer Certification - Preferred
