PART-TIME UNARMED SECURITY OFFICER

Post Location: Winchester, Virginia | $21.00 Per Hour

Excelsior Defense is currently seeking dependable, professional Part-Time Unarmed Security Officers to provide security services for our client, who's retail site is located in Winchester, Virginia.

This assignment is an excellent opportunity for retired or former law enforcement officers, military personnel, corrections professionals, and experienced security officers seeking consistent part-time work in a professional environment.

We are looking for individuals who understand situational awareness, professionalism, de-escalation, accountability, and the importance of maintaining a calm but authoritative security presence.

Pay Rate: $21.00 per hour

AVAILABLE PART-TIME SCHEDULE

Thursday – Saturday
08:45–19:00
Approximately 30.75 hours per week

Additional part-time and relief opportunities may become available as the operation expands.

Applicants should live within approximately 25 miles of the Winchester location.

THE ASSIGNMENT

To ensure safety and maintain a visible presence within a regulated retail environment where security officers play an important role in maintaining a safe, professional, and welcoming atmosphere.

This is not a position where we are simply looking for someone to fill a uniform.

We are seeking a mature, dependable professional who can recognize potential concerns, communicate effectively with store leadership and customers, and use sound judgment when responding to security-related situations.

The right officer will understand how to maintain authority and situational awareness while remaining approachable and professional.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain a professional and visible security presence at the facility.
• Monitor entrances, exits, customer activity, and designated security areas.
• Maintain awareness of activity inside and immediately surrounding the property.
• Conduct scheduled interior and exterior security patrols.
• Observe and report suspicious activity, safety concerns, and unusual circumstances.
• Assist store management with maintaining an orderly and secure retail environment.
• Professionally address security concerns and assist with de-escalation when appropriate.
• Respond to incidents and emergencies in accordance with established procedures.
• Coordinate professionally with law enforcement when necessary.
• Complete accurate Daily Activity Reports and incident documentation.
• Follow site procedures and Excelsior Defense post orders.
• Immediately communicate significant incidents through the proper chain of command.
• Maintain professionalism, attentiveness, and situational awareness throughout the entire shift.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Current Virginia DCJS Unarmed Security Officer Registration required at the time of application.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Reliable transportation.
• Strong attendance and punctuality.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to accurately document security activities and incidents.
• Ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods.
• Ability to remain alert and attentive throughout the assigned shift.
• Ability to pass required background screening and drug testing.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States.

Applicants who do not currently possess an active Virginia DCJS Unarmed Security Officer Registration will not be considered for this assignment.
