Responsibilities

Job Summary

The Security Officer patrols designated HonorHealth properties, screens visitors, and performs activities related to the safety and security of staff, patients, and visitors. Responsibilities include protecting property against theft, fire, vandalism, or other illegal activities, and ensuring safety protocols are followed. Must convey information clearly and accurately, maintaining awareness of safety and security measures to ensure a safe environment for all.

Essential Functions

• Patrol assigned areas to check for suspicious activity or hazards, investigate or report hazards, and ensure doors and windows are secured. Escort individuals or property as needed, respond to alarms, and enforce organizational policies such as parking, smoking, and badge compliance. Provide training to staff as needed.
• Assist in emergency situations, act as first responder to disturbances or alarms, and respond immediately to security calls. Maintain order and safety, including controlling hostile individuals and applying restraints when necessary, in compliance with hospital policies. May assist law enforcement and security at public events and mass casualty scenarios.
• Investigate and document incidents, maintain logs, and relay information as directed.
• Complete required training and participate in ongoing security education programs, including crisis intervention and self-defense techniques.
• Represent HonorHealth as a brand ambassador, greeting and assisting visitors, patients, and staff, and collaborating with community partners.

Education

• Associate's Degree or equivalent preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience

• One year of experience in law enforcement or healthcare security preferred but not required.

Licenses and Certifications

• Driver's License required.
• Non Clinical/IAHSS Security Officer Certification preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required within 2 months of hire.
• Taser certification within 90 days of hire by HonorHealth Public Safety or as a certified Taser Instructor required.
