Job summary

SEARHC is seeking a Security Officer to patrol campuses and assigned areas in Southeast Alaska. You will monitor for safety risks, assist patients and staff, and control access to facilities. The role requires strong communication and the ability to respond calmly in emergencies.

Qualifications include a High School Diploma or equivalent, an Alaska driver’s license, and BLS within 90 days; IAHSS Basic certification within 3 months is also required. Experience in security is welcome.

Qualifications

• Valid Alaska driver’s license required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire.
• IAHSS Basic certification within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Patrols campus and assigned areas to monitor for conditions or situations that pose risk to safety.
• Provide routine security services including patient assistance, traffic control, access control and emergency response.
• Respond to emergencies and enforce visitor policies.
• Escort visitors and employees, monitor systems, and participate in emergency drills.
• Perform hazard surveillance and incident investigations as required.

Pay Range: $25.00 - $30.04

Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job

• Patrols campus and assigned areas to monitor for conditions or situations which pose a risk to the safety of people or property.

Provides routine comprehensive security services, including:

• Assistance with patient restraint;
• Intervention in disruptions by patients;
• Traffic control;
• Guarding and patrolling physical property;
• Escorting visitors and employees;
• Monitoring systems;
• Orienting and monitoring of personnel working in high-risk areas;
• Investigation of incidents;
• Access control;
• Enforcement of visitor policies;
• Respond to emergencies;
• Respirator fit testing;
• Hazard surveillance surveys;
• Participation in emergency drills; and
• Public assistance requests.
