Job summary

Cone Health Medical Group is seeking a Security Officer to assist with surveillance of hospital facilities and grounds. Under close supervision, this role helps to provide a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Responsibilities include access control, patrolling, incident reporting, and coordinating responses to incidents, with a focus on courteous, safe resolutions. Requires High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 months experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 6 months of experience required.
• Valid Driver's License required; if driving a Cone Health vehicle, 5 years of driving experience and MVR approval by Risk Management; STARR and BLS within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Helps control access to hospital facilities to ensure only authorized people enter and leave the premises.
• Patrols hospital areas to respond to incidents, thefts, and accidents as they arise.
• Documents daily activities and events for reporting to the Director.
• Coordinate responses to motor vehicle assistance needs and escalated conflicts with courteous interaction.
• Assist with locking and unlocking campus offices, rooms, and buildings for authorized entry/exit.
• Intervenes in verbal and physical altercations to find safe resolutions.
• Support Morgue Services staff on security-related tasks as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Function

• Helps to control access to hospital facilities to ensure that only authorized people enter and leave the premises.
• Assists with patrolling hospital areas to respond to incidents, thefts, and accidents as they arise.
• Documents daily activities and events for reporting of the departmental activities to the Director.
• Helps coordinate responses to motor vehicle assistance needs and escalated conflicts to serve customers with courteous interactions.
• Supports the locking and unlocking campus offices, rooms, and buildings to allow entry and exit for authorized people.
• Intervenes in altercations (verbal and physical) that may include patients, visitors, and/or staff to find a safe resolution.
• Supports Morgue Services staff on security-related tasks as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

• Required: High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience

• Required: 6 months

Licensure/Certification/Listing

• Required: Valid Driver's License (if driving a Cone Health vehicle, must have 5 years of driving experience and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must be approved by Risk Management) STARR and BLS within 30 days of hire.
