Job summary

College Medical Center Phoenix seeks a full-time Security Officer for morning and night shifts to protect patients, visitors, and staff. The Security Team ensures safety, enforces access control, and responds to emergencies in a hospital setting.

Qualified candidates have at least one year of on-site security experience, Level One Fingerprint Clearance, AZ Guard Card, and CPR/BLS and CPI certifications or ability to obtain quickly. Training continues to maintain certifications and skills.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
• One year of on-site Security Officer experience preferred.
• Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
• Current AZ Guard Card required.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• CPI certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Knowledge of general security operations and related legal limitations.
• Ability to collaborate with clinical staff and report incidents clearly.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine patrols to ensure safety of patients, staff, and visitors.
• Monitor entrances and restricted areas; verify IDs and enforce access control.
• Respond to security incidents, alarms, and emergencies per policy.
• Use de-escalation techniques and CPI strategies to manage behaviors.
• Assist in interventions and restraints per policy and training.
• Document incidents and actions in clear, timely reports.
• Collaborate with clinical/administrative staff to maintain a safe environment.
• Report hazards or policy violations to appropriate personnel.
• Participate in drills and ongoing training to maintain certifications.

Job Summary

Job Qualifications:

• Minimum of one (1) year of experience as an on-site Security Officer preferred
• Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card required
• Current Arizona (AZ) Guard Card required
• Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) certification required within 30 days of hire
• Working knowledge of general security operations, procedures, and related legal limitations
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English

Job-Specific Duties:

• Perform routine patrols of interior and exterior areas to ensure the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors
• Monitor entrances, exits, and restricted areas; verify identification and enforce access control policies
• Respond promptly to security incidents, alarms, and emergency situations, following established protocols
• Utilize de-escalation techniques and CPI strategies to manage disruptive or potentially violent behaviors
• Assist in physical interventions and restraints when necessary, in accordance with policy and training
• Document all incidents, observations, and actions in clear, accurate, and timely reports
• Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to support a safe healthcare environment
• Maintain awareness of surroundings and report safety hazards or policy violations to appropriate personnel
• Participate in required drills, ongoing training, and continuing education to maintain certifications and skills

Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors, including but not limited to relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for CMC Phoenix roles, including but not limited to shift differential and other special pay practices. The posted compensation for the position is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay that CMC Phoenix in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.
