Job summary

Mercy Gilbert Medical Center in Gilbert, Arizona, seeks a Security Officer to protect staff, patients, and visitors and respond to emergencies across the hospital campus.

You will patrol the facility, monitor alarms, dispatch officers, and prepare incident reports while complying with HIPAA and privacy procedures in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Six (6) months of experience as a security officer involving extensive public contact.
• Arizona State Driver's License required.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) card within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Protect staff, patients, and visitors by responding to calls for assistance in a timely and prudent manner.
• Patrol the facility and grounds; monitor alarms and dispatch officers as needed; report unsafe acts or conditions.
• Know and follow emergency procedures; report HIPAA breaches; investigate security breaches and write incident reports.
• Log daily activities and complete clear, concise incident reports; use correct codes in dispatches.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Security Officer, you will help the healthcare enterprise remain a safe place. You will maintain a safe and secure environment for medical staff/employees, patients, and visitors by patrolling the premises and visitor management and observing and reporting activities and incidents at an assigned site. Our officer will preserve order and act to enforce regulations when assistance is requested by medical staff and employees and responding rapidly to security emergencies within the hospital or other healthcare settings. It is expected that the security officer will demonstrate behavior consistent with CommonSpirit Health core value and humandkindness. The security officer shall support CommonSpirit Health's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the quality improvement/process improvement activities.

Every day you will ensure a safe and secure environment for medical staff, employees, patients and visitors within the hospital or healthcare setting.

To be successful in this role, you must have proactive security measures, strong interpersonal skills, keen observation and adherence to protocols.

• Protecting staff, patients, and visitors by responding to calls for assistance in a timely and prudent manner to incidents such as violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes committed or in progress, opening doors, and responding to emergency codes
• Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle, monitor security alarms and dispatch officers promptly to location(s) where needed and report unsafe acts or conditions
• Knowledge of emergency procedures, equipment, supplies, reports HIPPA breaches if witnessed, investigate security breaches, conduct follow-up investigations, and write incident reports
• Log all activities in a daily log to accurately record events and complete clear, concise, and legible reports in a timely manner, use appropriate emergency and radio codes in dispatching security officers while knowing the hospital campus to ensure that dispatches are to the right location

Job Requirements - Required

• High School Diploma or GED
• Six (6) months experience as a security officer involving extensive public contact
• Arizona State Driver's License
• American Heart Association-issued Basic Life Support (BLS) card within 60 days of hire

Preferred

• Completion of college level education in criminal justice
• One (1) year experience as a Security Officer in a hospital or healthcare setting, prior law enforcement or military service
• Basic Health Care Security Officer (BSO)
