Summary of Position
The Security Officers monitor grounds to prevent theft, violence, or other company losses, including inspection of emergency response systems.

The persons hired for the position of Security Officer will work either a 5/40 schedule 1st or 3rd shift Monday thru Friday. The 2nd shift is a 4/10 schedule that covers a combination of weekdays and weekends. We offer paid vacations, paid sick-time, paid training, health coverage including medical, dental, and vision coverage. The positions report to the Environmental Health Safety & Security Department to ensure a safe working environment at our Northridge California facility.

Job Responsibilities

1. Maintain a safe and secure environment by touring the premises and monitoring grounds via surveillance equipment.
2. Inspect emergency response equipment (i.e. spill cabinets, fire extinguishers, AEDs, fire suppression systems, etc.) and audit facility equipment.
3. Interact with a variety of persons including clients, visitors, and employees.
4. Direct visitors, provide temporary visitor IDs, and maintain visitor logs.
5. Follow Post-Order instructions and Crisis Management Plan procedures.
6. Work in all-weather elements.
7. Promote safety by being alert to observe, correct, and/or report any hazards.
8. Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results, including support updates to procedures, trainings, and written programs.
9. Participate in training and become familiar with general safety procedures and Crisis Management Plan response.
10. Respond to security breaches and prepare reports describing the incident or accident.
11. Be at least 21 years old with a high school diploma (or equivalent).
12. Hold a current BSIS License - SECURITY GUARD.
13. Maintain a valid driver’s license.
14. Pass all required background and drug screenings.
15. Be customer service oriented.
16. Have effective written and oral communication skills.
17. Perform routine foot patrols, operate an electric powered cart (e.g. golf cart), and do moderate lifting.
18. Present oneself in a professional manner through appearance and conduct.

Skills & Experience

1. Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
2. Perform work under minimal supervision and handle emergency response complex issues; refer only the most complex issues to higher-level management.
3. Possess at least 4 years of comprehensive knowledge of subject matter.
4. Proven ability to interact with others in a timely, informative, and professional manner.
