Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required, with post-secondary education in Criminal Justice or a related field preferred.
• 1-2 years of experience in security, law enforcement, or a related safety role, with campus security experience preferred.
• Knowledge of emergency safety protocols and facility management procedures, with the ability to follow them effectively.
• Strong observational skills, attention to detail, and communication abilities to professionally identify and address security or safety issues.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively within a security team.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Proficiency in writing, speaking, and understanding English.
• Proficiency in basic computer skills, including accurate typing, navigating websites, entering and recalling data, using word processors and spreadsheet software, managing emails, and familiarity with digital communication etiquette and techniques.
• Physically capable of performing security tasks, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine patrols of campus grounds and facilities to monitor for suspicious activity, identify safety hazards, and ensure proper security measures are in place.
• Monitor and operate surveillance systems, alarms, and emergency response systems, responding swiftly to alerts and irregularities.
• Respond promptly to emergencies or security breaches, following campus safety protocols, and reporting incidents to campus management or appropriate authorities.
• Maintain detailed logs and reports of security-related events and actions taken during patrols or incidents.
• Assist with emergency preparedness by coordinating drills and ensuring campus members understand safety protocols.
• Collaborate with and mentor team members with developmental disabilities, adapting communication styles and providing patient guidance and support as needed.
• Support crowd control during campus events and enforce special instructions for large gatherings.
• Collaborate with local law enforcement or emergency services during incidents requiring outside assistance.
• Provide assistance to campus participants, staff, and visitors, contributing to a safe and welcoming environment.
• Participate in required safety training and maintain certifications, including CPR and First Aid.

Compensation

The hourly rate for this role is $17 per hour
