Job summary

Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital is seeking a Security Officer for a full-time 36-hour workweek with a variable schedule. The role entails protecting patients, visitors, staff and property, performing patrols, responding to incidents, and ensuring adherence to PH&S policies in the Oregon region.

Required licenses and experience include Oregon Private Security qualifications and at least 1 year of security or law enforcement background; driving may be necessary and a valid driver's license

Qualifications

• Oregon Private Security Armed/Unarmed Professional licensing required at hire.
• Unarmed security license and PS-20 driver license verification may be needed.
• 1 year of experience using basic Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of security protective duties to protect patients, visitors, staff, physicians, property and facilities.
• Respond to alarms and nuisance calls and conduct site surveys and threat assessments.
• Mobile patrols by vehicle and on foot; assist in patient transports and detain individuals when necessary.
• Assist in training of clinic personnel and support Providence or affiliated organizations within the Oregon Region.

Security Officer at Providence Hood River Memorial Hospital- Full-Time (36 hour per week), Variable Schedule

Lyra Caregiver Assistance program- Up to 25 counseling or coaching sessions per eligible member per year

Receives general direction from the Security Manager, Supervisor or Lead Security Officer, performs a variety of security protective duties to protect patients, visitors, staff, physicians, property and facilities from accidents, bodily harm, fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry. Enforces PH&S, facility and security policies and regulations. Investigate reports of potential criminal conduct against PH&S staff, visitors, staff, and property; respond and assist in restraining patients; detain individuals when necessary or at the direction of a police officer; and provide protective services to high risk areas. Mobile positions will conduct vehicle and foot patrols, patient transports, site surveys, threat assessments, patient standbys, alarm/nuisance call response, special details and assist in training of clinic personnel. May be required to support any Providence or affiliated organizations within the Oregon Region.

Required Qualifications:

• Upon hire: Oregon Private Security Armed/Unarmed Professional - Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training, or
• Upon hire: Oregon Private Security Unarmed Professional - Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training
• Upon hire: Private Security Temporary Work Permit PS-20
• Upon request: Driving may be necessary as part of this role. Caregivers are required to comply with all state laws and requirements for driving. Caregivers will be expected to provide proof of driver license and auto insurance upon request. See policy for additional information.
• 1 year of experience using personal computer with standard Microsoft applications.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Coursework/Training: College level coursework in professionally related fields such as criminal justice, social work, psychology or any social science.
• H.S. Diploma or GED
• 1 year Security/law enforcement experience such as corrections, police, reserve and military police.
• Direct patient care experience in a healthcare industry.
