Job summary

Makena Golf & Beach Club seeks a Security Officer to provide concierge-style protection for members, guests, and staff on the property. You will monitor access, respond to emergencies, and coordinate with security leadership to maintain a safe, upscale environment.

Ideal candidates bring Hawaii guard credentials, strong service orientation, excellent communication, and the ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends to support round-the-clock safety at Makena's premier

Responsibilities

• Maintain a concierge security approach for members, guests, and employees on property.
• Provide superior customer service to Makena standards.
• Secure and protect company assets: people, facilities, and property.
• Protect reputation and assets with liability focus.
• Respond to emergencies with urgency and communicate with Security leadership and external services.
• Serve as first contact for external emergency services when needed.
• Provide emergency and minor medical response as required.
• Manage access-control using company tools and logs.
• Detect and deny unauthorized access.
• Report safety hazards and security vulnerabilities to management.
• Perform field audits and elevate findings.
• Use computer systems to complete reports and audits.
• Complete daily activity reports and event/incidence reports.
• Respond to Director of Security requests within 4 hours.

Description:

Join the Discovery family, where quality and service are at the heart of everything we do! This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company's locations: Makena Beach & Golf Club, set on Maui, Hawai'i.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Maintain the personal "concierge" security approach for all members, guests, and employees while on property.


• Provide superior customer service to the standards of Makena.


• Secure and protect all of the company's assets: people, facilities, and property.


• Protect the company's reputation and intellectual assets with a focus on liability protection.


• Respond to emergency situations with a sense of urgency and maintain open communication flow with Security Supervisor, Director of Security, across departments, and with external emergency services.


• May be the first point of contact for external emergency services.


• Provide emergency and minor medical response as required.


• Provide access-control utilizing sound judgment and company-provided tools such as access control systems or access control lists and logs.


• Detect, investigate, and deny access of unauthorized persons.


• Recognize and elevate to management all safety hazards and security vulnerabilities detected through the course of their shift.


• Perform regular field audits (checklists) for facilities and elevate findings to management.


• Effectively use company-provided computer systems to complete reports and audits.


• Complete all paperwork and reports as necessary, including but not limited to a daily activity report.


• Provide detailed reports on all events and incidents on the property.


• Respond efficiently to all Director of Security requests either via email, text, or phone. Unless extenuating circumstances exist ALL correspondence MUST be answered within 4 hours.

Skills & Qualifications

• Hawaii Guard Card required.


• Demonstrates respect for and appreciation of Hawaiian values, history, and culture, understanding its implication in one's work, in fostering meaningful relationships, and in embracing the community served.


• Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.


• Prior customer service experience preferred.


• Ability to work in a team environment.


• Ability to stay calm and focused in unstable situations.


• Exceptional organizational skills with previous experience handling confidential issues.


• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays, and a shift greater than eight (8) hours in length. May be required to work outside of regular work hours at short notice.


• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.


• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, pushing, and pulling.


• Must be able to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time up to and including an entire shift.
