Responsibilities

  • Enforce University safety and security rules and regulations.
  • Regulate and direct traffic as necessary and provide escorts when requested.
  • Monitor alarms/panels and notify emergency services when needed.
  • Prepare written reports detailing incidents and activities.
  • Operate radios and basic computer systems to document events.

Overview

Security Officers are responsible for observing and reporting safety and security hazards affecting the personnel and property of the University; and to assist in enforcing University Safety and Security rules and regulations. The Security officer interacts with a variety of persons including; faculty; staff; students; contractors; vendors; visitors; public safety officials; and the general public. Located in Henderson, Nevada, approximately twenty-five minutes from the iconic Las Vegas strip, Touro University Nevada is a non-profit medical, health sciences, and education graduate university focused on positively impacting our community in healthcare and education. Responsibilities
  • ID Compliance
  • Property movement compliance
  • Regulating and directing traffic, as necessary
  • Parking Compliance
  • Escorts, as requested
  • Observing and reporting any/all unusual activity
  • Notifying, assisting, and directing emergency personnel as necessary
  • Security access of authorized personnel into the University
  • Patrolling, inspecting and/or securing access to the premises
  • Operating telephone, radio, and motor vehicle equipment
  • Preparing all required written reports
  • Responding, compiling and reporting all information in regard to theft, alarms, accidents, and other incidents that may occur
  • Report all building utility/service issues, as observed, to the Facilities Dept.
  • Monitor alarm/panels for emergencies that might arise within the facility
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D Required.
Experience
  • Prior Law Enforcement, Military, or Security Experience
  • Valid Nevada Driver’s License

  • Must have sufficient visual acuity to read and understand faculty/staff listings, posted orders, maps, computer screens, check identification, and to distinguish the faces of faculty/staff, contractors, vendors, guests and visitors
  • Must be able to stand, walk and/or drive for up to 90% of the assigned shift
  • Must be able to respond quickly to incidents and emergencies (“Rapid Response”). Rapid Response may include, but is not limited to, running, squatting, crouching, kneeling, climbing, standing for long periods of time, and operating Touro vehicles
  • Must have a command of the English language that is easily understood
