Job Description

As a Security Officer, you will observe and report activities and incidents at an assigned client site, ensuring the safety of client property and personnel. You will conduct periodic tours to check for irregularities and inspect protection devices and fire control equipment.

Additional responsibilities for this Officer include:

• Controlling access to the client site or facility through the admittance process; assisting visitors and screening client employees efficiently to expedite their entry.
• Providing a courteous, respectful atmosphere so that all client employees and visitors feel the client cares about their needs, thereby presenting a positive image.
• Communicating openly, honestly and responsively in all situations, and providing authorized information about the site and surrounding area to visitors.
• Monitoring entrances and exits; preventing unauthorized or unlawful entry; overseeing loss prevention, entrance control, movement of people and vehicles, and parking; operating a gate and examining vehicle contents.
• Monitoring remote entrances using closed‑circuit television; operating remote access devices; calmly directing persons who cause disturbances to leave the property.
• Patrolling the assigned site on foot or in vehicle; checking for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, violations, blocked ingress/egress, mechanical problems, and unauthorized persons; inspecting buildings and grounds with appropriate equipment and protective gear.
• Protecting evidence or the scene of an incident during accidents, emergencies, or investigations; setting up barriers and signage; providing direction or information to others.
• Preparing logs or reports as required for the site; writing and/or typing reports; entering information into a computer using standard grammar; inspecting control logs and taking action as needed.
• Observing and reporting incidents or suspicious activity to client representatives, company management, life‑safety personnel, or public‑safety authorities as appropriate.
• Responding to incidents such as fire, medical emergencies, bomb threats, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergencies, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and other conditions following established procedures.
• Ensuring that all property removal complies with policy requirements and client standards; identifying client products or materials carried by employees or visitors.
• Carrying out specific tasks and duties of a similar nature and scope as required for the assigned site.

Qualifications

As a Security Officer you must meet applicable state, county and municipal licensing requirements. You must also meet the following qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED; if not, must be willing to complete the GED program within six months.
• Minimum age of 18 years.
• Reliable means of communication (e.g., pager or phone) and transportation (public or private).
• Legal right to work in the United States.
• Ability to speak, read and write English.
• Willingness to participate in the company’s pre‑employment screening process, including drug screening and background investigation.
• Knowledge of or ability to learn security operations and procedures.
• Ability to follow written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions.
• Effective team member with courteous telephone manners.
• Ability to maintain professional composure in unusual circumstances.
• Ability to adapt to changes in the external environment and organization.
• Ability to write routine correspondence, including logs and reports.
• Good organizational skills.
