Dunbar Security Solutions in Harrisonburg, VA is seeking a part-time Security Officer to support staff and maintain a safe shopping environment. The role focuses on monitoring activity, responding to alarms, and delivering professional customer service.

Work schedule is Saturday and Sunday 8am–4pm with a pay rate of $18.50 per hour. The position reports to the Operations Manager and includes benefits such as medical, life, dental, vision, and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• Experience in security or customer service preferred.
• Ability to monitor premises and respond to alarms promptly.
• Strong communication and observation skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor activity to maintain a safe shopping environment.
• Observe behavior for suspicious activity and report findings.
• Respond to exit door alarms and verify receipts when triggered.
• Conduct routine patrols of building and surrounding areas.
• Document incidents and security concerns in written reports.
• Collaborate with management to address safety issues.
• Provide professional customer service while enforcing store policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary: The Security Officer will assist staff in maintaining a safe and secure shopping environment for customers and employees. The officer will monitor activity and respond to security alarms while providing professional customer service.

Essential Functions:

• Monitor activity to ensure a safe environment for customers and employees.
• Observe visitor and employee behavior for suspicious activity and report concerns to management.
• Respond to exit door alarms and politely verify receipts when alarms are activated.
• Conduct routine patrols throughout the building and surrounding areas to identify potential security concerns.
• Document incidents , suspicious activity, and security concerns in written reports.
• Work closely with store management and staff to address safety or security issues.
• Provide professional customer service while enforcing store policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
