Job summary

Crescent Hotels & Resorts in Evanston is hiring for a Security Officer to protect guests and property. You will patrol on foot, maintain order, and respond to emergencies with calm, clear communication.

The role requires at least one year of security experience and a valid security officer license. The position comes with a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for advancement within our Crescent properties.

Qualifications

• One year of security officer experience, hotel experience preferred.
• Possesses a valid Security Officer license.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Send majority of shift on foot patrol to observe and identify risks.
• Maintain order, assist guests, and respond calmly to emergencies.
• Handle undesired conduct and enforce hotel policy as needed.
• Monitor building entrances and conduct walk-through observations.
• Answer security calls promptly and report alarms to the supervisor.
• Memorize the life safety system and locate key safety equipment.

Here is what you will be doing each day:

• Send majority of shift on foot patrol, walking, climbing stairs of the interior and perimeter of the hotel to observe and identify potential security and safety risks or undesirable conditions.
• Maintain order in the hotel, deal with the welfare of guests, and assisting with door lock problems. Coordinate expedient response to emergency conditions such as fire, fire or safety hazards and threats to life and/or property in a calm, rational and persuasive manner.
• Handle undesired conduct and potential violations of hotel policy as warranted for the security and safety of hotel guests, associates, patrons and property.
• Watch for suspicious persons entering, exiting, or loitering around building. Conduct walk-through observations of entire hotel. Promote safe work practices.
• Answer security telephone and safety calls and respond in a timely manner based on priority.
• Observe the security monitors for any unusual activity and in the case of suspicious behavior report directly, via radio, to the supervisor on duty; report any alarms similarly.
• Memorize and monitor life safety system installed at property including layout of entire building, alarm pull stations, location of fire extinguisher and sprinklers.

• One year of security officer experience required, hotel experience preferred.
• Security Officer license
• Requires grasping, lifting and or carrying or otherwise moving persons, packages, luggage, wheelchairs, and safety equipment using manual dexterity of hands.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
