Role Description

The Security Officer role at AdventHealth Colorado is a full-time, on-site position based in Denver, CO. The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and team members by patrolling hospital grounds and facilities, monitoring access points, and responding to security incidents. Daily tasks include documenting events, assisting with investigations, enforcing organizational policies, and collaborating with clinical and non-clinical staff to support a calm and safe care environment. The role also involves customer service duties such as providing directions, escorting individuals as needed, and de-escalating disruptive situations in a professional and respectful manner. Security Officers are expected to follow all regulatory requirements and AdventHealth standards while upholding the organization’s mission and values.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated skills in safety, security patrol, incident response, and emergency procedures.
• Strong communication, conflict de-escalation, and customer service skills when interacting with patients, visitors, and staff.
• Ability to complete clear and accurate reports, follow protocols, and use basic computer systems for documentation.
• Capability to remain calm under pressure, exercise sound judgment, and make decisions aligned with safety and organizational policies.
• High school diploma or equivalent; prior experience in healthcare security, law enforcement, military, or related field is beneficial.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed, and to stand, walk, and respond quickly throughout the facility.
• Relevant security or safety certifications (e.g., basic security officer training, CPR/First Aid) are preferred.
