Responsibilities

• Monitor evening activity and observe entries and movement.

Schedule: Monday -Friday | 5:00 PM - 12:00 AM (35 hours per week)

Position Overview

Citadel Security USA is looking for a vigilant and dependable Unarmed Security Officer to support evening security operations at an assigned location in Columbia, Missouri. This position calls for someone who can stay alert as daily activity winds down, monitor access points, conduct routine foot patrols, and recognize situations that may require attention.

The officer will help maintain an orderly environment through observation, professional communication, and consistent enforcement of established procedures. This is an unarmed position, with an emphasis on preventing problems, documenting concerns, and responding appropriately rather than using force.

What You Will Do

• Monitor Evening Activity: Observe people entering, leaving, and moving through assigned areas, remaining alert to unusual behavior or potential safety concerns.
• Complete Routine Foot Patrols: Check designated indoor and outdoor areas, including stairways, elevators, emergency exits, and other access points.
• Identify Hazards and Irregularities: Look for signs of unauthorized entry, unsafe conditions, property damage, or activity that does not align with established procedures.
• Support Access Management: Verify identification when required, issue visitor credentials, and record entries and departures accurately.
• Monitor Security Equipment: Observe available CCTV systems, alarms, and access-control systems and report concerns according to post orders.
• Assist Visitors and Employees: Answer routine questions, provide directions when appropriate, and maintain a courteous, professional presence.
• Address Disruptive Conduct: Communicate expectations calmly, use de-escalation techniques when suitable, and request supervisory assistance when a situation exceeds your authority.
• Respond to Urgent Situations: Follow established procedures during disturbances, alarms, medical incidents, suspicious activity, or evacuations.
• Contact Emergency Services When Needed: Notify the appropriate responders and provide relevant information when an incident requires outside assistance.
• Document Shift Activity: Prepare clear reports covering patrol observations, incidents, safety concerns, access issues, and other irregularities.
• Follow Established Procedures: Apply property rules and company post orders consistently while treating individuals respectfully.
• Communicate With Supervisors: Report significant findings promptly and provide accurate information to support follow-up actions.
  

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 1–2 years of professional security experience.

• Ability to remain composed and use sound judgment in challenging situations.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Ability to patrol indoor and outdoor areas, including stairways, elevators, and emergency exits.
• Ability to recognize potential safety concerns and respond promptly to emergencies.
• Sufficient visual and auditory awareness to monitor surroundings effectively.
• Willingness to follow supervisor instructions, company policies, and assigned post orders.
• Availability to work the scheduled Monday–Friday evening shift.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Two or more years of experience in security, law enforcement, or military service.
• Previous experience with foot patrols, access control, or security monitoring.
• Familiarity with CCTV systems, alarm notifications, visitor logs, or digital reporting tools.
• Experience assisting the public and handling difficult interactions professionally.
