Job summary

CommonSpirit Health seeks a Security Officer to help maintain a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors within hospital settings. You will patrol premises, manage visitor access, and respond rapidly to security emergencies while reporting incidents promptly in accordance with policies.

The role requires proactive security measures, strong interpersonal skills, keen observation, and adherence to protocols. Prior healthcare security experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Six months of experience as a security officer in a hospital or healthcare setting, or one year of security officer experience.
• American Heart Association-issued BLS card within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Protect staff, patients, and visitors by responding to calls for assistance in a timely and prudent manner to incidents such as violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes in progress, opening doors, and emergency codes.
• Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle, monitor alarms and dispatch officers to locations where needed; report unsafe acts or conditions.
• Knowledge of emergency procedures, equipment, supplies, reports HIPAA breaches if witnessed, investigate security breaches, conduct follow-up investigations, and write incident reports.
• Log all activities in a daily log; complete clear, concise, and legible reports; use appropriate codes in dispatching security officers; know hospital campus for correct dispatch locations.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Security Officer, you will help the healthcare enterprise remain a safe place. You will maintain a safe and secure environment for medical staff/employees, patients, and visitors by patrolling the premises and visitor management and observing and reporting activities and incidents at an assigned site. Our officer will preserve order and act to enforce regulations when assistance is requested by medical staff and employees and responding rapidly to security emergencies within the hospital or other healthcare settings. It is expected that the security officer will demonstrate behavior consistent with CommonSpirit Health core value and humandkindness. The security officer shall support CommonSpirit Health's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the quality improvement/process improvement activities.

Every day you will ensure a safe and secure environment for medical staff, employees, patients and visitors within the hospital or healthcare setting.

• Log all activities in a daily log to accurately record events and complete clear, concise, and legible reports in a timely manner, use appropriate emergency and radio codes in dispatching security officers while knowing the hospital campus to ensure that dispatches are to the right location

Job Requirements

Required

• High School Diploma or GED
• Six (6) months experience as a security officer in a hospital or healthcare setting, prior law enforcement or military service; or one (1) year experience as a security officer
• American Heart Association-issued Basic Life Support (BLS) card within 60 days of hire

Preferred

• Arizona State Driver's License with satisfactory DMV report
• International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Training for Healthcare Security Officer
• Basic Health Care Security Officer (BSO)
