Job summary

CommonSpirit Health's Memorial Hospital in Bakersfield, California seeks a Security Officer NB to maintain a safe healthcare environment. You will promptly respond to security emergencies, observe and report incidents, and document all activities within the hospital platform while upholding the hospital’s values.

Responsibilities include patrolling, monitoring alarms, and dispatching officers to locations as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required at hire.
• Security Guard CA license required at hire.
• Six months security officer experience in healthcare, or law enforcement or military; or one year security officer experience.
• CPR/BLS certification within 90 days and CA driver’s license within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Observe, report and document incidents and requests in the hospital system.
• Patrol facilities and grounds by foot or vehicle; monitor alarms and dispatch as needed.
• Apply emergency procedures and hospital codes; protect staff, patients and visitors.
• Investigate security breaches and document incident reports clearly and timely.
• Maintain HIPAA breach reporting when witnessed and ensure compliance with policies.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Security Officer NB, you will ensure a reasonably safe and secure healthcare environment by promptly responding to security emergencies and maintaining a professional demeanor while supporting CommonSpirit Health's mission and strategic goals.

Every day you will observe and report activities/incidents, preserve order, enforce regulations and policies when assistance is requested, and document all incidents and requests within the hospital reporting platform, acting consistently with CommonSpirit Health's core values.

To be successful in this role, you will possess strong observational skills, a professional demeanor, the ability to respond effectively to emergencies, and a commitment to documenting incidents accurately while upholding safety and security standards.

• Protecting staff, patients, and visitors by responding to calls for assistance in a timely and prudent manner. Calls may include incidents such as violent or unruly patients, visitors, crimes committed or in progress, or to emergency codes, and requests for opening doors. Patrol the facility and grounds by foot or vehicle; monitor security alarms and dispatch officers promptly to location(s) where needed; and report unsafe acts or conditions.
• Knowledge of emergency procedures, equipment, and supplies, including of radios and hospital codes.
• Reports HIPAA breaches if witnessed; investigate security breaches, conducts investigations, and writes incident reports. Ensures that all activities are logged. That incident reports are accurately completed that they are clear, concise, legible and submitted in a timely manner.
• Use appropriate emergency and radio codes in dispatching security officers while knowing hospital campus to ensure that dispatches are to right location. Keeping the organization’s mission, vision and values at the forefront of all decision making and action.

Job Requirements

Required:

• High School Graduate General Studies, upon hire or
• High School GED General Studies, upon hire and
• Six (6) months experience as security officer in a healthcare setting, Law enforcement or military service; or
• One (1) year experience as a security office
• Security Guard: CA, upon hire and
• Basic Life Support - CPR, within 90 Days and
• Driver's License: CA, within 30 Days

Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.

Pay Range

$25.98 - $30.44 /hour
