Job Description

JOB TITLE: SECURITY MANAGER

FLSA: EXEMPT

DIVISION: SERVICES - SECURITY

REPORT TO: PROGRAM DIRECTOR

LOCATIONS: New York City

SALARY: $60,000-$72,000

SUMMARY: The Security Manager is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of clients and staff in a NYC homeless shelter. This position reports to the Program Director and supervises the Shift Supervisors and Security Officers, managing the day-to-day shelter operations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the Shift Supervisors and security staff
• Support building operations and safety protocols
• Inspect client rooms daily
• Monitor client property storage and organization
• Coordinate with Social Services to ensure compliance with mandates
• Conduct regular searches and inspections for safety and security
• Participate in weekly team meetings
• Oversee front desk security and crisis response
• Maintain reports and logs, including incident and entry reports
• Create schedules, monitor attendance, and manage overtime
• Assist with emergency drills and procedures
• Participate in staff hiring, training, and site staffing management
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director

Qualifications

• NY State Security Guard and F89 licenses required
• High school diploma required; Associate’s degree preferred
• Minimum three years security experience, supervisory experience required
• Skills in conflict resolution, crisis management, surveillance systems, fire alarms
• Knowledge of CARES database and collective bargaining agreements a plus
• Valid NY driver’s license; available for 24-hour emergency on-call
