Job summary

Vulcan Materials Company seeks a seasoned Director of Corporate Security to direct comprehensive security operations, oversee risk and threat mitigation, develop compliant protocols, and lead emergency response initiatives to protect assets and personnel.

The role requires strong leadership, executive communication, and the ability to coordinate security programs with internal partners and external vendors to ensure regulatory compliance and operational resilience.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years in law enforcement, military, industrial, or governmental security.
  • Previous management and leadership experience required.
  • Experience in Executive Protection.
  • Experience with access control, CCTV with digital recording, and photo ID systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead security personnel and enterprise-wide risk mitigation and threat response.
  • Develop compliant security protocols and emergency response leadership.
  • Translate complex security data into concise leadership reports.
  • Coordinate with internal partners and external vendors to ensure SLAs.

Directs and manages comprehensive corporate physical security operations, encompassing strategic oversight of security personnel, enterprise-wide risk and threat mitigation, development of compliant security protocols, and leadership of emergency response initiatives to ensure the total safety and operational resilience of corporate assets and personnel.

Essential Functions
  • Expert at articulating complex security and operational concepts to senior leadership; proven ability to influence strategic decision-making through persuasive presentations and clear communication.
  • Adept at navigating diverse relationships with internal business partners and external vendors, ensuring cross-functional alignment and the successful delivery of service-level agreements.
  • Skilled in the end-to-end design, development, and administration of comprehensive security and safety programs that align with corporate objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven record of leading high-performing teams with a focus on exceptional customer service, continuous process improvement, and the professional development of direct reports.
  • Leverages advanced situational analysis and critical thinking to identify mission-critical issues quickly and accurately, even in high-pressure or ambiguous environments.
  • Highly capable of managing complex, multi-task projects in fast-paced environments by prioritizing workflows based on urgency and strategic importance.
  • Expert at synthesizing complex operational data into concise, actionable situation reports for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Highly proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite and specialized enterprise management software (Cornerstone, Workday, Security Management Systems) to streamline administrative and reporting workflows.
  • Maintains high situational awareness to detect irregular or unusual conditions, proactively mitigating security concerns or environmental hazards before they escape.

Education
  • High School or GED required.
  • Bachelor Degree with emphasis in criminal justice or related field
Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in law enforcement, military, industrial or governmental security or an equivalent combination of the same.
  • Previous management and leadership experience required.
  • Law Enforcement and/or Military Schooling a plus.
  • Must have experience in Executive Protection.
  • Must have experience in the administration and operation of: access control systems, CCTV systems with digital recording, and photo ID systems.

  • Maintain required certifications, licensing and training to achieve professional competency as appropriate for the position.
  • Must be able to travel on short notice CONUS and OCONUS.
