Job summary

Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia seeks a Security Officer to protect guests, colleagues, and property in a safe, respectful environment. You will patrol all hotel areas, respond to incidents, and enforce policies with courtesy and firmness.

This role requires strong observational skills, report-writing, and collaboration with the Director of Security and department heads to maintain the highest security standards across venues, entrances, and service areas.

Responsibilities

• Performs security rounds of the hotel across all restaurants, lobby areas, guest floors and service areas.
• Responds immediately to emergency incidents and security requests as assigned.
• Ensures maximum guest, associate, and hotel safety and security at all times.
• Reports in writing on all activities during each shift and notifies as directed.
• Performs duties as assigned by the Director of Security and supervises as needed.
• Checks staff IDs and controls entry, liaising with department heads for access permissions.
• Maintains high security standards and professional appearance and conduct at all times.

Job Description

No Job Description for a position can possibly include all duties which may be requested by guests or required by the hotel. The objective of all positions is to effectively provide the services personally, or to immediately refer requests to the appropriate department manager. The following is a summary of the major responsibilities of the position.

Position: Security Officer

Department: Security

Purpose: To ensure that the hotel guest, associates, and hotel property are maintained in a safe and secure environment

Essential Functions

• Performs Security rounds of the hotel as follows:
  • All restaurants
  • All lobby areas and the Associates Entrance Garage
  • Convention Center, Banquet level
  • All guest floors
  • Executive Offices
  • Service levels. (back of the house areas)
  • Visits all locations requiring special attention as frequently as required.
• Responds immediately to those emergency incidents and Security requests to which he is assigned.
• Ensures maximum guest, associates, and hotel safety and security at all times.
• Is courteous, tactful, and helpful, but firm in enforcing hotel policies and procedures.
• Reports in writing on all activities during each shift before leaving the hotel, with oral reports and emergency notifications delivered as directed by the established Security procedures.
• Performs duties as assigned by the Director of Security, Assistant Director of Security, Security Supervisor, and responds to directions from any Executive Committee member or Assistant Manager.
• Creates and maintains the highest standards of Security at all times, begin professional in attitude, appearance, and application.
• Checks associates leaving and entering the hotel at the beginning and end of shift, or at any time when an associate leaves the hotel. Collects all package passes and inspects parcels taken from the hotel.
• Monitors the Security of the receiving dock.
• Confiscates all unauthorized parcels etc., and notifies the Director of Security and the appropriate department head.
• Checks all I.D's of the hotel staff and provides information and direction upon proper identification of all job applicants, salesmen, etc. Notifies the department head involved for permission for non-staff personnel to enter the premises.
• Does not leave assigned station unless properly relieved as specified by the Director of Security.
• Performs all necessary clerical requirements of the Security Department under the supervision of the Director of Security. This includes filing, processing work orders, ordering supplies, maintaining necessary schedules, and posting bulletin board information.
• Protects hotel from admission of undesirables and others not conducting legitimate business within the premises.

Tools and Equipment

• Telephone, pen/pencil, photo-copying machine, computer and printer
• file folders, filing cabinet, facsimile machine
• Lift jack dolly, hand truck, camera, first aid equipment

Working Environment

• Interior of hotel, in all areas with exposure to extreme temperatures.
• Exterior of hotel with exposure to weather conditions.
• Exposure to various hazardous chemicals.
